Southern Nash Middle School

SNMS Weekly Newsletter

Monday, February 5, 2024 - Friday, February 9, 2024

Good Evening Cobra Families:

This is Sonya Horton, principal of Southern Nash Middle School, with the weekly announcements for Monday, February 5, 2024 - Friday, February 9, 2024.

Students will be taking their math benchmarks Monday, February 5th. Please be reminded that benchmark assessments are not taken for grades; however, they do guide instruction; therefore, we ask our students to take them seriously and do their very best on these assessments.

We are off to a great start with our Candy Bar Fundraiser! We will be extending our Candy Bar Fundraiser until Friday, February 16th. This will be the last day we will give out candy and all money will be due by Monday, February 19th.

Please continue to encourage your child to work hard on their exact path. There is a friendly competition between grade levels. We will be announcing the rewards coming soon.

Progress reports will be released Thursday, February 8th. Teachers will be sending at-risk letters home at this time. If you receive a letter, I encourage you to contact your child's teacher to set up a conference. Please encourage your child to work hard daily and turn in assignments.

Parents, please mark your calendars for 2 important upcoming events. There are 2 flyers located in the weekly newsletter with more information. Southern Nash High School will be hosting a Family Curriculum Night for all 8th grade parents and students Wednesday, February 21st from 5-6:30pm. I encourage you to attend this event to find out about all the wonderful things the high school has to offer to our upcoming Firebirds. Also, Thursday, February 22nd from 5:30-6:30 SNMS will be hosting a Math Curriculum Parent Night. Please join us for a fun night of hands-on math activities.

Just a reminder that Friday, February 9th and Monday, February 12th are teacher workdays. There will be no school for students on these days.

Thank you so much parents for making sure your child is following the dress code daily. Hoodies should be SNMS colors only, and students should wear uniform approved pants. Here's the link for the dress/uniform code at SNMS, https://southernnashms.ncpschools.net/o/snms/page/snms-school-uniform-policy

Students are allowed to have their cell phones at school. However, they are expected to be turned off and in their bookbags during the school day.

We look forward to a wonderful week! Have a great evening!

Thank you,

Ms. Horton
