Hello Firebird Families,

We started 2nd semester on a strong note and want to continue with that great momentum. With the winter delay, report cards will be passed out in homeroom on Monday.

Monday through Thursday this week, we will report directly to homeroom at the first bell. The exception to this rule is on your child’s grade-level meeting day. That grade level will report directly to the big gym. Grade Level Meetings are as follows:

Monday - 12th graders
Tuesday - 9th graders
Wednesday - 10th graders
Thursday - 11th graders

Non-reporting and CCP students should report the first 5 days of school to homeroom (Thorugh next Thursday). These students are expected to attend homeroom sessions each week unless otherwise noted by a counselor or school leader.

Please note the current shift to the calendar (1st semester ending in January) is due to balancing the two semesters and State Policy requirements about when traditional schools can start. Southern Nash High School, along with its Athletics Hall of Fame Committee, is excited to announce the first-ever class in the newly established Southern Nash High School Athletics Hall of Fame. Eight individuals comprise the 2025 class, each standing as some of the most successful student-athletes and coaches in the school’s 56 year history. The class will be enshrined during a banquet event on the evening of April 12,2025. A limited number of tickets will be placed on sale to the public in early February. Celebrating Our All-Star Teachers- Ms. Mejia, Mrs. Griffin and Ms. Messer who were honored at the district celebration for exceeding growth last school year! Mr. Finch, Mr. Foster, Mrs. Larrison, Mr. Ledbetter, Mrs. Moore and Mr. Simonof were also recognized for exceeding growth! Join us in giving them a big round of applause!

ALL District Band

14 students from SNHS auditioned for the Eastern NC All-District Band this past Saturday.

Congratulations to Demitri Braxton, Noah Johnson, Samuel Hall, Brody Wallace, Jordyn Dunning, and Janice Raya on being selected to participate!

We had a couple of alternates as well:

Adrian Sampayo - 3rd alternate trumpet

Samuel Hall - 1st alternate section percussion

Upcoming Event: NCPS FAFSA Completion Event

Date/Time: Thursday, January 30th from 4:00-6:00 pm

Location: Nash Community College in the Library

Purpose: Get professional assistance with the completion of the FAFSA.

To prepare for the FAFSA Completion Event, parents/guardians and students should:

Create their Studentaid.gov account in advance. Both students and parents/legal guardians will need accounts.
Gather the required material and information needed to complete the 2025-2026 FAFSA and bring the necessary documentation with them.
