Good afternoon, Cougar Families!
It's hard to believe we only have only have 9 more days of school before the 24-25 school year ends. Our MES staff and students have been working diligently to achieve a school performance grade of 'B' from the state of NC. We need everyone to be at school every day in order to reach our goal. Let's make MES the best school in Nash County!!!
We start our End of Grade testing this week. It is VERY important students are at school every day and not miss his/her test. If students are absent and have to make up an EOG, the student may not be able to attend the PBIS event in June.
Since we are starting testing this week, students in grades 3-5 do not need to bring bookbags to school. In addition, because the building will be in testing mode and lunch schedules will be impacted, we ask that parents refrain from coming to eat lunch with students this upcoming week.
Yearbooks have arrived. We will hand these out to students Monday after testing. If anyone wishes to purchase a yearbook, the price is now $25. You may come to the office to purchase one or send the money with your child.
We are looking forward to a great week at MES!!!

Earlier this week, the district shared a reminder about responsible use of school-issued technology. This message serves as a follow-up to that communication. As we wrap up the school year, we want to remind families and students to use school-issued technology responsibly.
While we’ve had no confirmed incidents locally, national reports have highlighted unsafe online trends involving electronic devices. Misuse—especially of devices with lithium batteries—can pose serious safety risks, including fire or injury.
Please:
Encourage responsible tech use at home. You can find the policy on the Nash County Public School’s website.
Remind students not to mimic harmful online challenges.
Report any concerning behavior to school staff immediately. Students found misusing devices will be subject to the NCPS Discipline Matrix and applicable policies.
Thank you for partnering with us to keep our schools safe.

As we approach the end of the school year, please be aware of NCPS Promotion Standards. You should have received several letters by this time of the year concerning what we as a school are doing to help your child meet the promotion standards. If you have any questions, please contact your child's teacher(s).

Good afternoon, NCPS Families:
Please make sure to update your NCPS App in the App Store. Apple Store Google Play Store.
If you don’t see your child's class in Rooms, it may be because the teacher hasn’t published it yet. As they are still setting up their Rooms profile. If your child isn’t appearing in Rooms at all, thank you for your patience as we are processing information from our new Student Information System, Infinite Campus, which affects multiple programs.
Remember, the NCPS App and Infinite Campus are separate systems. We are continuing to use Rooms for communication, so you'll need to access Rooms through the NCPS App or at edurooms.com.
Thank you for your patience as we navigate this new system. We are all in this together.

Car Rider Drop-Off
Pre-K students are dropped off at the side door in the bus parking lot. Please park your car and sign your student in each morning.
Student drop-off may begin at 7:20 AM. Students arriving between 7:20 AM and 7:40 AM will report to the cafeteria to eat breakfast or wait for the 7:40 bell. At 7:40 AM, students will report to their homeroom class. Any student arriving after 7:40 AM will eat breakfast in the cafeteria (breakfast is optional) and report to their homeroom class afterward. Breakfast will end at 7:55 AM.
Students do not have to wait for an adult to open the car door; older students may get out on his/her own if you feel comfortable allowing them to leave the car. That will help the line move faster in the morning, and it also helps to have students ready to unload quickly.
Please remember at 7:55, the staff enters the building. If you bring your child to school and there is no staff member at the front of the school, you need to walk your child into the school. We want the students to be safe, and if there is no adult to supervise, the parent needs to walk into the office to check the child in.
Bus Rider Drop-Off
Bus students arriving before 7:40 AM will report to the cafeteria to eat breakfast or wait for the 7:40 bell. When bus students arrive on campus after 7:40 AM, they will eat breakfast in the cafeteria (breakfast is optional) and report to their homeroom class.

Car Rider Pick-Up
Begin dismissal procedures at 3:00 PM.
Students will wait in their classrooms until their name is called over the radio and displayed on the Pikmykid App.
Parents will pick up students in the car line. (Do not park and pick up your child)
During the afternoon dismissal, do not merge into one line until you the last light pole. When you merge too far back, traffic on Hanes Ave becomes unsafe for our parents or buses.
