Mission
Fostering academic excellence in an environment where every child and adult feels respected, valued, and integral to the school community.
Hornet Families,
I am incredibly proud to announce that MB Hubbard Elementary not only exceeded growth expectations last year but also raised its North Carolina School Performance Grade from a "D" to a "C," officially moving out of the low-performing category. Even more impressive, we ranked in the top 15% of schools statewide for growth! This remarkable achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students, staff, parents, and community. We always knew our students and staff could rise to the challenge, and they did!
Don't forget, September is School Attendance Awareness Month! Supporting your student’s success starts with making attendance a top priority. Please ensure your child is present and ready to learn every day because Attendance Matters – All Day, Every Day.
Below are detailed instructions on how to download the Chipmunk App, which will help you track your student's bus. If you encounter any issues, please don't hesitate to reach out for assistance.

How to check to see if you have a bus?
GO TO: https://www.ncpschools.net/ or go directly to BusPlanner https://ncps.mybusplanner.com/default.aspx
At the bottom of the NCPS home page, click on the blue circle that reads BUS.
Click on LOGIN and then click on PARENT PORTAL.
Login if you have an account or click CREATE ACCOUNT. To view your student(s) bus stop information, you will need a parent account.
To create an account:
Click Create Account.
Enter an Email address and click I’m not a robot.
Click Submit.
A confirmation email will be sent to the email address entered.
Open that email and follow the link to validate the account and set up a password.
After you have successfully logged in, you can then add your student(s) to your account. You will need their Student ID (PowerSchool ID), Date of Birth, School & Grade. *If you do not have the Power School ID number, please contact your child(s) school.
You are now able to see your student(s) bus number, stop location and their pick up and drop off times.
If the bus stop information does not appear, please reach out to your school to make sure that your student(s) is coded as a bus rider in PowerSchool so Transportation can assign your student(s) to a bus.
VERY IMPORTANT: At the beginning of each school year, NCPS TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT adds students and stops daily. Bus numbers as well as bus stop locations and Pick-Up/Drop-Off Times may change.
It is VERY IMPORTANT that you recheck your student(s) bus information on-line by following the directions above. Stop times could change before the first day of school. (Due to new student enrolling)
It is a good idea to check your student(s) stop information regularly because it could change throughout the school year.
If You Have Any Questions Or Concerns About Your Child's Bus Stop, Please Contact Your Child's School.

How to get started:
Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
We will not accept transportation changes over the phone. Please email your child's teacher or send a note change transportation.
tudents may begin being dropped off at 7:30 AM
Morning Announcements 7:55 AM
Class Instruction Begins 8:00 AM
Dismissal 3:00
**In order for students to be counted present for the school day they must sign-in by 10:20 and must not sign-out before 12:40.
**No student check-outs will be allowed after 2:30 PM
Arrival Procedure
Please use the carpool line at the back of the school (near cafeteria) to drop off students from 7:30-8:00. Students will not be allowed to enter the main entrance until 8:00am.
Please remember that students are counted tardy at 8:00am. Instruction begins at 8am. When students are tardy they miss their WIN groups and reading instruction. 10-15 mins may seem like a small thing, but when students miss 10-15 mins a day for a month, 5 hours of reading instruction lost. We need students here to prepare them.
If you need to visit a classroom or talk with a teacher, please make an appointment.
Carpool Procedure
Here are a few ways to help the line move faster.
Remain in your car.
Pull all the way down to spot #2.
Make sure your child is ready to exit the car when you stop.
Do not wait for staff to open the car door, if your child can exit safely on their own.
If you need wait or speak with a staff member, pull forward and wait to the side of the cafeteria.
Thank you so much for your continued support.
This is an urgent message regarding health requirements for school. Every student entering kindergarten this year must complete the immunizations required by the state of North Carolina, as well as present a kindergarten physical (Health Assessment Form) for entry to school.
The deadline to have both of these completed is September 24. Beginning September 25, any kindergartner who does not have these two items completed and on file will be excluded (suspended) from school until they are received.
Please make appointments as soon as possible with your healthcare provider or with the Nash County Health Department if your child needs to obtain either one of these requirements. You may contact Nurse Wright during school hours if you have questions or concerns.

School Safety Update
A friendly reminder, starting Monday, September 9, 2024, we’ll be introducing a new safety measure at our school, and we wanted to keep you informed. Each week, 10% of our students will be randomly selected to walk through a metal detector or be wanded by a trained staff member. This will include students who ride the bus, carpool, or walk to school.
Rest assured, our team will handle this with the utmost care and respect for every student, and we’ll be monitoring the results to make sure everything runs smoothly. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me. Thank you so much for your understanding and support as we work together to keep our school safe!
