Hello, Bulldogs!

I am Mr. Snowden, Assistant Principal at Coopers Elementary, and I'm happy to be returning for another year as a Bulldog!  I enjoy working with the students at Coopers, and I am always ready to offer assistance if you need it.  If you have questions or concerns about buses, testing, PBIS, or just general information, please call me.  We will all be working hard to make this the best school year ever.

A Message From Your Principal...

Bulldog Families,

As we kick off the 2024-25 school year on Monday, we are thrilled to welcome our students back to the building for the first time this year! We’re eagerly anticipating an exciting and productive year ahead. In the newsletter below, you’ll find some important information—please take a moment to read through it. We ask for your patience and flexibility as we navigate our new dismissal app (Pik My Kid) and work with our transportation department to assign students to buses. I’m looking forward to an amazing school year and watching our students thrive!

Parents/ Guardians, please contact the front office if you have any questions or concerns.

Mrs. Land, Principal

Kindergarten Staggered Enrollment

All Kindergarten students will have a staggered start to ease their transition into the school year. One-third of the class will attend on the first day to meet their teacher and get familiar with the daily routine, another third will come on the second day, and the final third will attend on the third day. Starting Thursday, August 29th, all Kindergarten students will attend together.

k
first day of school

The first day of school is this Monday, August 26th. For students new to Coopers (grades 1 through 5), parents are welcome to walk them to their classrooms and drop them off at the door. However, if your child attended Coopers last year, we encourage them to walk into school independently. After Monday, only kindergarten parents will be permitted inside the building. Beginning Tuesday, September 3rd, our kindergarten students will celebrate "Independence Day" by walking to class on their own.

This week, your child will come home with a piece of masking tape with a label on it attached to their bookbag. We kindly ask that you keep this label on their bookbag throughout the school year. The color of the tape indicates your child's mode of transportation home, and the number on the tape is their lunch number. This system helps streamline the cafeteria line in the morning and the dismissal process in the afternoons. Please remember that all students receive free breakfast and lunch, and we encourage everyone to enjoy a healthy meal each day.

Car Rider Drop Off

Student drop off begins at 7:20am. Students arriving between 7:20am and 7:40am will report to the cafeteria if they are eating breakfast and to the library if they are not. Breakfast is optional, however, it is free to all students this school year. Breakfast will end at 7:55am.

Car rider drop off for pre-K is right beside their building, between the pre-K building and the 3-4 playground.

Car rider drop off for 3-5 students will occur in the front circle of the school.

Car rider drop off for K-2 students will occur at the front office breezeway. Parents will need to use the circle drive that goes around the back of the school. Please turn in the driveway nearest the gym and drive around behind of the school.

If you have a K-2 and a 3-5 student, they can all be dropped off at the K-2 car line by the front office.

***PLEASE know that the first couple of days/weeks, the car line will be very long and could be out in the road (on hwy 58). This will occur until we have all of our bus students on buses and van riders assigned to vans.

Bus Rider Drop Off

Bus riders arriving before 7:40am will report to the cafeteria if they are eating breakfast and to the library if they are not eating breakfast. Breakfast is optional, however, it is free to all students this school year. At 7:40am, or after eating breakfast, students will report to their homeroom class.

Student Dismissal Procedures

Car Rider Pick Up

We will begin dismissing students at 3:00pm. This year we will be using a new app, called Pik My Kid. More information will be sent home with students at Open House. Students will also receive car tags at open house on Thursday to be displayed in the car window of the student(s) being picked up.

Students in grades 3-5, will be picked up from the side of the school closest to the gym, utilizing the circle in front of the school. Students in K-2 will be picked up from the breezeway area nearest the front office, utilizing the circle going behind the school. If you have a K-2 and a 3-5 student, they will all be picked up from the K-2 carline. The K-2 car line will be a DOUBLE LINE.

***PLEASE know that the first couple of days/weeks, the car line will be very long and could be out in the road (on hwy 58). This will occur until we have all of our bus students on buses and van riders assigned to vans.

At Open House (and the first week of school), we will also have raffle tickets for sale for $1. The raffle tickets will be for our Fast Pass car line. We will draw out 5 names on Friday, Sept. 6th. These winners will not have to sit in the car line in the afternoons from then until the end of December. They will have a designated parking spot to pick up their children. We will have another drawing starting in January.

Pik My Kid

As we begin using PikMyKid for dismissal, please ensure that you download the app and scan the QR code provided at Open House. If you did not receive this during Open House, it will be sent home with your child. The QR codes will expire in two weeks. This will help speed up the process. I ask for your patience as we adjust to this new system. Dismissal may take longer than usual during the first 10 days, but once we all transition to this routine, your child's safety during dismissal will be greatly enhanced, which is our primary goal in adopting PikMyKid. Please encourage your child to quickly make their way to the car cones when their name is called. If your child is not at the cone when you arrive, you will be asked to pull forward and wait. Also, please make sure you (or whoever is picking up your child that day) has the car tag visible. The car tag is a bright colored tag with a number on it.
