We will meet in the gym first at 6pm, then head to the classes to see the teachers and learn what is ahead instructionally for this year. We will be giving out progress reports and the 3rd Grade BOG scores out. We will help to sign you up for Infinite Campus Parent as well. Hope to see you there!

Our Book Blast event starts Monday where we will set off in search of treasure to build our students' home libraries. Follow the steps on the Treasure Map coming home Monday to embark on a jungle quest to earn exciting prizes and books. With the Book Blast event ALL BES students will receive at least one book from their grade level collection. Additional contributions from friends and family members help go toward earning the other books in the grade level collection. Benvenue Elementary Library Partners with MOSS Kids Book Project to Enrich Student Learning

Ms. Murphy and the Benvenue Elementary Library are excited to announce a partnership with MOSS Kids Book Project, a children's literacy nonprofit dedicated to bringing diverse and inclusive books to communities across Nash and Edgecombe counties. Each month, the MOSS Kids Book Project selects a featured book to share with students, engaging them in a read-aloud session. Accompanying the book, students participate in a hands-on craft activity and receive printable activity sheets to continue their learning in the classroom or at home.

At the end of each session, MOSS Kids generously donates the featured book to our library, making it available for all students to enjoy. This month's selection, Sister Friend by Jamilah Thompkins-Bigelow, was read to the classes of Ms. Pickett, Mrs. Place, Ms. Ruffin, and Ms. Lewis. The book’s themes of inclusivity and friendship sparked meaningful discussions, with students interviewing a partner and creating beaded friendship bracelets to celebrate their newfound connections.

We look forward to expanding this initiative with classroom visits or hosting groups in the media center during enrichment. We also hope to invite authors and illustrators to connect with our students either virtually or in person throughout the school year.

We are excited about the opportunities this partnership offers and welcome your thoughts on how we can continue to bring this initiative to life at Benvenue.

Carline Procedures, Arrival and Dismissal

School personnel are on duty at 7:20am in the morning and until 3:20pm in the afternoon. Supervised car drop off will be from 7:20 am-7:55 am. After 7:55 am, students will need to check in through the front office. Student instruction begins promptly at 8:00am. Students cannot be dropped off in the front of the school during 7:20 am-7:55 am due to bus, daycare van, and EC student drop off. Breakfast will end at 7:55am. No outside breakfast will be allowed in class after 7:55am. If your child is a car rider and you would like for your student to eat breakfast, please drop him or her off no later than 7:45am to ensure they are not rushed to eat breakfast in the cafeteria. Students will need to be in class at 8am for instruction to begin.

Early student check out needs to occur by 2:30pm on regular school days and 12:30pm on early release days. After this time, your child needs to be picked up in the carline. A photo ID is REQUIRED for all early checkouts. The person checking out the student MUST be listed on the student's contact card.

Parents of car riders need to be on campus no later than 3:20pm, otherwise you will need to pick up your student from the office. If a parent is habitually late bringing their child to school or picking them up after 3:20pm, a school social worker referral will take place. Staff members are not available to supervise students who are dropped off early or picked up late. Therefore, it is imperative that all students be dropped off and picked up on time.

Daycare

Please be sure your teacher knows if your student will be riding a daycare van. We would need to know the Daycare Provide and the Contact Number of this Daycare as well.

Change of Transportation

Please let your teacher know by 2pm about any changes in transportation. These needs to be communicated through your student Rooms account. If students will have different transportation dailey, a detailed calendar will need to be shared with your student's teacher.

Early Check Outs

Early student check out needs to occur by 2:30pm on regular school days and 12:30pm on early release days. After this time, your child needs to be picked up in the carline. A photo ID is REQUIRED for all early checkouts. The person checking out the student MUST be listed on the student's contact card.

PIK MY KID

All students will need to be enrolled in our PIKMYKID safety system. You will receive registration materials and car tags at Open House.  All transportation change requests must be made through the PIK MY KID application.  Please make sure you have your car tag displayed in your car window in the afternoon.
