Parents and Guardians,
We will celebrate Inclusion Week this week. The activities are listed below if you wish to participate. Students in 5th will be going to Middle School visits on Monday and Tuesday. We will have an Early Release at 1pm on Wednesday, April 2nd. Grades 4th and 5th have field trips on Friday, April 4th.
We received a grant from Duke Energy that provided science experiments to Ms. Brown's fifth graders to try out all week. Check out this Roller Coaster experiments for Force in Motion.

BES student from grades 1-5 will receive a chapter book "The Lemonade War" by J. Davies. We received these books through a Deleon Carter Grant Ms. Weaver wrote entitled One Book One School. The students we will reading this book with their class every day from 2:30-2:50 for the next fifteen days. This is the over view, content ideas and schedule if you would like to reread the book at home each night to be part of this awesome experience.
There are 38 more school days until the testing window for the EOG begins. We want all students to be a little bit better than they tested before. Please have your 3-5 students complete their Edmentum assignments or learning paths at home for practice. All 3-5 students should know how to log on. Students also can read their library books and take AR tests at school the next day. This helps increase stamina. K-2 students should be reading AR as well and practicing the skill teachers have shared with families to get ready for MCLASS testing. Please contact your student's teacher if you need help with any of this.
Thank you so much for all of your support during last week's basketball games. Our Little Bobcats were adorable!!!
Best,
Kristen Tedford-Principal

Need Online Books for students to take AR tests? Ms. Murphy shared this information below about the Braswell Library:
In partnership with Braswell Memorial Library and NC Cardinal, we have updated the library user accounts for students enrolled for the 2024-2o25 school year! NCPS students have free access to ebooks, audiobooks, e-magazines, and more through Sora/Overdrive! Using their Student ID #, students can access materials and resources online in digital formats and in person at Braswell Memorial Library. What a gift for students to have such easy access to the public library! Battle books are available through these offerings, so if your library is short on copies, this is a great way for students to read books for BoB! Just remember, it is a library, so titles will be on loan, but it's worth checking as an alternative!
Where to start?
Students log in through Clever, and then click on the Sora app. Follow the steps in the link below to make sure students are accessing the selections that are appropriate for their grade level:

Where'sTheBus Parent App Information
The Where'sTheBus Parent App will let households know precisely when their child's bus will arrive at their bus stop.
Updated every 15 seconds, Where'sTheBus displays the real-time minutes and miles the bus is from the household's bus stop.
Any member of the bus-riding household can access this information from any Internet-connected device.
The WheresTheBus App is available for download for
iOS (App Store)
Android (Google Play Store)
Also accessible via a web browser for any Internet-connected device.
How to Use the App
a. Arrival Status: Estimated time of arrival (ETA) is displayed when bus arrival time can be predicted. When prediction is unavailable, use the bus location and distance from your stop.
b. Last Message: "current" is displayed when bus data has been received in the last minute. If updates are not received, the bus is likely stopped at a school or layover or inactive (no messages in the last 15 minutes).
c. Your House: represented by home icon.
d. Your Bus Stop: represented by stop sign icon.
e. Bus Location & Distance: represented by bus icon and distance.
f. Bus #: Click on the bus # to switch between busses (if multiple). If bus 36 were subbing for bus 41, it would be displayed as 36(41).
How to Create an Account
The WheresTheBus app is free to Nash County Public Schools households, simple, and takes less than 5 minutes to set up.

Carline Procedures, Arrival and Dismissal
School personnel are on duty at 7:20am in the morning and until 3:20pm in the afternoon. Supervised car drop off will be from 7:20 am-7:55 am. After 7:55 am, students will need to check in through the front office. Student instruction begins promptly at 8:00am. Students cannot be dropped off in the front of the school during 7:20 am-7:55 am due to bus, daycare van, and EC student drop off. Breakfast will end at 7:55am. No outside breakfast will be allowed in class after 7:55am. If your child is a car rider and you would like for your student to eat breakfast, please drop him or her off no later than 7:45am to ensure they are not rushed to eat breakfast in the cafeteria. Students will need to be in class at 8am for instruction to begin.
Early student check out needs to occur by 2:30pm on regular school days and 12:30pm on early release days. After this time, your child needs to be picked up in the carline. A photo ID is REQUIRED for all early checkouts. The person checking out the student MUST be listed on the student's contact card.
Parents of car riders need to be on campus no later than 3:20pm, otherwise you will need to pick up your student from the office. If a parent is habitually late bringing their child to school or picking them up after 3:20pm, a school social worker referral will take place. Staff members are not available to supervise students who are dropped off early or picked up late. Therefore, it is imperative that all students be dropped off and picked up on time.
Daycare
Please be sure your teacher knows if your student will be riding a daycare van. We would need to know the Daycare Provide and the Contact Number of this Daycare as well.
Change of Transportation
Please let your teacher know by 2pm about any changes in transportation. These needs to be communicated through your student Rooms account. If students will have different transportation dailey, a detailed calendar will need to be shared with your student's teacher.
Early Check Outs
Early student check out needs to occur by 2:30pm on regular school days and 12:30pm on early release days. After this time, your child needs to be picked up in the carline. A photo ID is REQUIRED for all early checkouts. The person checking out the student MUST be listed on the student's contact card.
PIK MY KID
All students will need to be enrolled in our PIKMYKID safety system. You will receive registration materials and car tags at Open House. All transportation change requests must be made through the PIK MY KID application. Please make sure you have your car tag displayed in your car window in the afternoon.
